Scripture Focus: 1 Kings 18:41–46

“And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.”  1 Kings 18:46

There are times when life feels stuck, when years of hard work don’t seem to pay off, when prayers go unanswered, and when doors seem to be locked. You may have been in the same work for ten years without being given a promotion, or your spiritual life may feel like it has been in a “three-and-a-half-year drought.” Many of us have felt the silent frustration of being stuck: taking one step forward only to feel like we’re being pushed two steps back. But the Bible tells us that a believer’s story never ends with stagnation. God can step into human limitations and speed up destiny in ways that only He can.

Elijah’s life exemplifies this reality, and God is revealing it to us in 2026: a period of Divine Acceleration. So rejoice, there is a sound of an abundance of rain. This year is not just another year of routine or repetition; this year is your year of Divine Acceleration.

What is Divine Acceleration?

Divine acceleration occurs when God supernaturally steps into your natural circumstances to speed up your progress, multiply your results, and advance you beyond human limits. It is the compressing of time and the clearing of obstacles that would normally take years to overcome.

The Promise: “And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten…” Joel 2:25.

You may feel like others have gone far ahead of you, but when the hand of God comes upon your life, He can make up for lost time. He makes everything beautiful in His time.

Conditions for Divine Acceleration

Divine acceleration is promised, but it is not automatic. Scripture reveals clear conditions.

1. Faith

Elijah declared rain before he saw clouds. Faith speaks first. Hebrews 11:6 “Without faith it is impossible to please God, for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” Faith hears the sound of abundant rain while the sky is still clear.

2. Prayer and Fasting

Matthew 17:21 However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” While Ahab went to eat, Elijah went to pray. He bowed low, face between his knees, a sign of humility, focused, and desperate. Fasting does not change God; it positions us to receive from Him.

3. Righteousness

James 5:16 “The effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Power flows through clean vessels. Acceleration requires alignment—repentance and purity.

4. Persistence

Luke 18:1 One day Jesus told his disciples a story to illustrate their need for constant prayer and to show them that they must keep praying until the answer comes.

Elijah sent his servant seven times to look for rain. Six times, nothing. The seventh time, the servant saw a cloud the size of a man’s hand. That’s enough for a man or woman of faith; small beginnings are not denial; they are confirmation. Never stop praying because the answer is delayed. Persistence turns whispers into downpours.

5. Obedience

God told Elijah to confront Ahab, despite the danger. Elijah obeyed. Elijah had to leave his hiding place and confront King Ahab. To go forward, you must leave your comfort zone, and sometimes it means “kiss your Oprah goodbye.” “Separate from Lot” and “Throw Jonah Overboard” Obedience often requires leaving comfort zones, unhealthy relationships, and familiar limitations. Progress demands separation.

6. Yielding to the Spirit

The Bible says, “The hand of the Lord was upon Elijah.” Even when tired or busy, we must let the Lord’s Spirit work on us. Human strength could never outrun a chariot. However, divine empowerment enables us to achieve what seems impossible. Acceleration happens when we cooperate with the Spirit.

The Catalytic Effects of Divine Acceleration

In chemistry, a catalyst speeds up a reaction. In the spirit, God’s favor acts as a catalyst. Look at Peter in Luke 5. He toiled all night and caught nothing. But at the command of Jesus, Peter launched into the deep and caught so many fish that his nets began to break, filling two boats that started to sink. One moment of divine acceleration achieved what an entire night of “toiling” could not.

That is acceleration.

A Prophetic Promise

Amos 9:13 MSG declares, “Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim… Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings.”

This is not hype. It is divine timing.

A Challenge for the New Year

If you do what you did last year, you will get what you got last year. I don’t want a “Happy New Year” that is just a repeat of the old one. I want a year where we outrun the “chariots” of debt, sickness, and stagnation.

The hand of the Lord is reaching out. Are you ready to gird up your loins? Are you ready to pray until the cloud appears?

Let us pray: Father, we thank You for the promise of restoration. We pray for every person reading this, that the spirit of divine acceleration would rest upon us. May we outrun our obstacles and see Your glory in our lives. In Jesus’ name, amen.
